We believe that if our children leave Santos for school as confident, happy, imaginative, respectful and curious little people who are able to communicate effectively, make friends and play then our job is done and not only are they ready for school but they are on the right track to be ready for LIFE!
At Santos, we pride ourselves on not putting emphasis on preparing our children for school but with preparing our children for life by teaching, modelling and developing important life skills. So often we put so much pressure on our little ones to be able to write their name or know colours and shapes but are these rally the most important skills needed in preparation for school and their journey in life?
These skills will develop in time but children need to be allowed o be children. We all know that childhood is a very short period of time and goes by so fast do therefore it needs to be cherished and nurtured.
The Cheeky monkeys Class takes babies from six weeks old until after their first birthday, though the exact point of entry will depend on how ready the child is to start at nursery. In order to ascertain this, we liaise with parents on an individual basis as we recognise that all children are different.
The children move into the rising stars once they are steady walkers or following discussions with the staff and parents, it is decided that it would benefit a child to spend a further term in the Cheeky monkeys Class.
These are located on the ground floor and is one of three pre-school classes. The children are aged between three and four years. It is typically comprised of the children who have their birthdays between the beginning of March until the end of August, therefore the younger children in the academic year.
The features and resources in each room have been carefully tailored to meet the development needs of the children as they grow.
We also have an indoor/ outdoor covered play area. This allows the children at Santos Day Nursery all the benefits of fresh air and exercise during every single play session they attend, regardless of what the weather brings that day.
